Storehouse

Storehouse is a foodbank and drop-in centre based in the centre of Melton. Opening hours are 11am–1pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The foodbank supports those living in the Melton area who have been referred by a local agency (e.g. Melton Borough Council, Social Services, etc.). Those with a referral are able to select their own items from a free shop and we also provide clothing, bedding, baby equipment and small household appliances.

Our upstairs café is open to all, with or without a referral, offering free hot drinks and snacks to visitors. There are also hygiene facilities where guests can shower, brush their teeth, etc.

Storehouse is supported by Churches Together in Melton, local organisations and businesses, including Morrisons and Sainsbury's, and many private individuals.

Storehouse is based at the Hope Centre and can be accessed via the rear entrance on St Mary's Way car park.

Items that we continually need for Storehouse include:-

  • Toiletries: toothbrushes and toothpaste, shower gel, shampoo, soap, sanitary towels/tampons, deodorant.
  • Breakfast: UHT milk, small jars of coffee, small packets of tea bags in foil packs, cereal bars, small breakfast cereal packets (variety packs).
  • Lunches: pot noodles, packet soup, crisps, jams/spreads, biscuits/snack bars, small bottles of long life drinks.
  • Main Meals: tinned meat and fish with pull tops, tinned meat in sauce/gravy, small tinned vegetables, dried rice/pasta, packet sauces, dried packet meals, tinned/ long life puddings, tinned custard/cream.
  • Clothes, bedding, household items, baby equipment.
Food and clothing donations can be brought to the Hope Centre during normal opening hours (see above). You can also donate to Storehouse by using the appropriate collection points in Sainsbury's and Morrisons in Melton Mowbray.

We believe in a generous God who loves to give things away and that what we give is just a small token of God's love. All our compassion ministry is offered free of charge, with a no-strings-attached policy, and we do not look for anything in return.
