Storehouse Co-ordinator appointment – January 2025
Melton Vineyard is seeking to appoint a Storehouse Co-ordinator 3 days per week, to be responsible for overseeing this vital ministry area.
Applicants must have some experience in administration and/or project management, be supportive of the aims and values of Storehouse and the Christian values of Melton Vineyard.
Hours Part-time, 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week)
Salary £28,000 p.a. pro rata, plus 5% of gross salary pension contribution towards a workplace pension
Job status Permanent post (with a 6 month probationary period)
Holidays Holiday entitlement is 30 days paid annual leave, pro rata (18 days per year)
Role Oversee and manage Storehouse ministry
Storehouse is a ministry offering food, clothing, bedding, baby equipment and other household items to those living in the borough of Melton who have been referred by one of the local agencies. Storehouse serves people from many different backgrounds and is a core compassion ministry so, as well as having relevant experience of administration and/or managing a project, the ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate an ability to handle people and to develop a visionary strategy.

This is a people-facing role, both with Storehouse clients, volunteers, church members, council officials and the wider business community.
There is a genuine occupational requirement for the post-holder to be a committed Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
The individual will ideally have experience of communicating with individuals and organisations at all levels to promote the vision of Storehouse. The ideal candidate will be:

General responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day running of Storehouse
- Develop, maintain and share the ongoing vision for Storehouse in line with biblical values and ethos and the overall church vision and strategy.
- Manage and liaise with teams of volunteers and, where relevant, paid staff
- Organise training for volunteers and staff
- Liaise with other ministry leaders in the church where joined up working is needed
- Communicate effectively with those using the service.
- Liaise with external agencies and supporters
- Oversee Storehouse budget
- Promote awareness, understanding and support of Storehouse work within the wider community.
Specific responsibilities and tasks:
- Manage volunteers for weekly sessions and regular teams (e.g. shop and café volunteers, clothes sorting, food collection, etc.)
- Identify, recruit, train, deploy, monitor and nurture volunteers
- Work with relevant trustees to secure ongoing funding for Storehouse as well as one-off project grants.
- Represent Storehouse at external meetings.
- Give presentations to support organisations, e.g. schools, Rotary Clubs, churches
- Negotiate and monitor agreements with supporters and suppliers
- Develop and maintain policies, as needed.
- Supervise admin support, voluntary and/or paid
- Work with volunteers and team members on existing and new initiatives, as appropriate.
- Delegate tasks as appropriate to admin support.
- Oversee website, Facebook page, with admin support
- Handle challenging clients with confidence and respect
- Respond to Storehouse enquiries, with admin support.
- Operate in and promote biblical views of compassion and service,
- Show commitment to praying for the Storehouse ministry and leading prayer time at the start of the sessions.
