Mentor and Community Support Champion- Storehouse Melton Vineyard

Hours Part time, 18 hours per week
Salary £27,000 pro rata, plus 5% of gross salary towards a personal pension scheme
Job status 5 year fixed term, 3 month probationary period
Holidays Holiday entitlement is 14.5 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays
Role Mentor Storehouse visitors and gain support for the work that Storehouse does
Principal responsibilities and duties
- To create and deliver a series of group mentoring sessions which would be delivered short- medium term.
- To mentor Storehouse visitors individually and monitor their progress
- To identify peer mentors within the groups to help offer support longer term.
- Promote Storehouse and its values to local community groups, schools and businesses through the delivery of presentations in liaison with the Storehouse Co-ordinator
- Support and encourage Storehouse visitors into independence.
- Support the day to day running of Storehouse including being a key holder
Essential
- A passion to see individuals move from dependence to independence
- Be able to demonstrate strong personal boundaries and emotional literacy
- A commitment to adherence of Storehouse policies ,i.e following the safeguarding procedures, Adults at risk polices etc
- Able to wholeheartedly support the values of Storehouse and Melton Vineyard church being sympathetic to the Christian faith.
- An ability to see every individual as a valuable member of society
- An ability to see the potential in others and draw it out of them.
- An ability to work well in a team and be able to give and receive feedback constructively and kindly.
- Strong organisational and listening skills
- Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
- Ability to work under pressure and work flexibly according to varying needs
Desirable
- Good IT skills, including MS Office
- Experience of counselling/mentoring/facilitating group work
Report to
Storehouse Co-ordinator
Hours of work
18 hours per week to be worked predominantly from Storehouse at the Hope Centre on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday with presentations possibly being delivered in the evenings.
